Basic Slots Strategy

March 05, 2008 By: admin Category: online slots No Comments →

If you’re going to play the slots, you should have a strategy.  You need to put some guidelines in place for yourself before you start playing so that you can increase your chances of walking away with some money.

The first rule of playing slots is that you should never play until your money is gone.  It’s no fun to lose everything you have.  Decide ahead of time how much you will risk, and leave when you reach your limit.  This will keep you from spending money that you shouldn’t be spending.

There are books you can order that claim to offer secrets and strategies, but most of them are not worth buying.  The main reason that most people leave the casino broke is because they don’t quit when they’re ahead.  They always think they can win more, so they keep trying.  Eventually, they lose everything they’ve won and then some.

Being greedy will only lead to losing.  Remember that the casino has an advantage, so if you are ahead you are not likely to stay there long if you keep gambling.  Once you get ahead, you should stop.

You should establish limits before you start playing.  Decide how much money you are willing to lose, and don’t play any more than that.  If your loss limit is $200 and you win $500, that doesn’t mean you have $500 more to spend.  Keep the $500 and use it to buy yourself something nice.  Only spend the $200 you had originally planned on spending.

If you want to make your money last longer, play the lower denomination slot machines.  Your $200 will last a lot longer on the 25-cent machines than it will on the dollar machines.  Playing the lower value machines can give you a lot more enjoyment for the amount of money you are spending.

Remember to have your win goals and loss limits set before you start to play, and then stick to them.  This is the most important rule of gambling, whether you are playing the slots or any other game.

Strategies for Playing Progressive Slots

March 05, 2008 By: admin Category: online slots No Comments →

Progressive slot machines have jackpots that steadily increase over time as more people play them.  There is usually a reasonable starting jackpot, and the amount increases until someone wins.  Then the process repeats itself.

The jackpots in progressive slots can be huge.  It is easy to find the machines that offer progressive jackpots at the casino.  The jackpot amounts are displayed prominently in brightly-colored lights.

Here are some tips to consider if you are thinking about playing progressive slots.

First, you should decide whether you would prefer to play progressive slots or regular slots.  Casinos usually have close to the same profit margin on each type of machine, so you can bet that if there is a huge jackpot, the smaller prizes are lower to make up for it.  Because it is more likely that you will win the smaller payouts, you could be trading in some of your winnings for a long shot that will never pay off.  Only you can decide whether the shot at the jackpot is worth the tradeoff.

Next, keep in mind that jackpots get huge for a reason.  It is because of the ridiculous odds against winning that jackpots reach the tens of millions of dollars.  Do you feel lucky enough to be 1 in 50 million?  The odds of winning that life-changing jackpot could be up in that range.  It’s hard to know the exact odds because casinos are not required to disclose them.  However, in general, the higher the jackpot is, the lower the odds of winning.

When playing for progressive jackpots, look for the highest jackpot on similar machines.  For example, if there are several stand-alone progressives that are identical except for the amount of the jackpot, go for the higher jackpot.  The odds of winning will be the same for similar machines, regardless of the amount of the jackpot.

You might also notice that one interconnected group of progressives offers a much higher jackpot than another similar-looking group in another part of the casino.  Chances are, the differences in the amount of the jackpot have more to do with the time since the last win than the odds in this case.  Go for the higher jackpot.

Avoid playing on machines if the jackpot meter is not moving.  Either the jackpot is not progressive or it has topped out, and has reached its maximum.

Always bet the maximum number of coins when playing progressive slots.  Most of these machines will not pay the jackpot on smaller bets, so this is extremely important.  There’s no point in playing the progressive machines if you are not going after the jackpot.  You will get higher paybacks on the lower-level combinations playing regular slots instead.

Don’t think that a certain machine will pay out soon just because the jackpot is high, even if it’s higher than it’s ever been before.  The payout of the jackpot does not happen when it reaches a certain level.  It is always random.  The chance of hitting the jackpot on any individual spin is always exactly the same, regardless of how long it has been since the last win.

Even in video poker, where it is possible to figure the machine’s payback level, it is not safe to assume that the jackpot must hit soon because it is over that level.  The machine could go far past that level this time, and hit twice within a short period of time afterward.  There is no such thing as a sure thing.  You can never predict what will happen in slots.

Play and Run Slot Strategy

March 05, 2008 By: admin Category: online slots No Comments →

The play and run strategy allows you to find the best machines.  It is a strategy that requires strict adherence to the strategy, ignoring gut feelings and or emotions.  You place only the minimum bets while using this strategy, which helps to limit your losses.

This strategy involves the use of naked pulls and loss limits.  A spin that doesn’t win is referred to as a naked pull.  The amount that you have decided to risk on each machine before moving on is your loss limit.  By limiting the number of naked pulls and the amount played on each machine, you reduce your chances of throwing too much money into a machine that is not paying off.

How It Works

This strategy is designed for people who don’t have much money to play with, so don’t worry if you don’t have a huge bankroll.  Decide how much you will play on each machine and divide your bankroll into separate funds for each machine.  Decide how much you are willing to lose on each machine and how many naked pulls you will accept before you move on to another machine.

If you have a small bankroll, you should stick to slot machines that have a low minimum, preferably not more than 25 cents.  Play with only one credit each time.

Now that you are ready to play and have selected a machine, play 20 spins at the minimum bet.  Keep track of your loss limits and naked spins as you play.  If you reach your loss limit or the maximum number of naked spins before you hit the 20th spin, move on to the next machine.

If you are ahead after the 20th spin, you can stay at the same machine for the next 20 spins.  However, you start over counting your losses and naked spins so that you will notice if the machine goes cold.  Never walk away from a machine after a win.  You don’t leave a hot machine.
